2016 Haro Shift 27.Five R5

Haro’s Shift 27.Five R5 is a ready-to-rip trail rig with the specs to perform and a design that exceeds expectations. Its hydroformed aluminum frame mates a 4-bar linkage with a RockShox Monarch R shock to deliver 125mm of supple rear end travel, and invites a RockShox Recon fork with its 120mm of air-sprung trail mastery up front to complete the party. Its 27.5-inch wheels and Honey Badger tires love to fly over obstacles and can still dance between them. Uphill and downhill will blur into a single, seamless flow thanks to the Shimano 2 x 10-speed drivetrain, and the Shimano hydraulic disc brakes will keep you railing the line you scoped from the top even in heinous conditions. Get serious about the way you play on Haro’s Shift R5.

    Comments:

I bought this bike in February as a 2016 leftover at Cutting Edge in Berlin CT. This is my first full suspension bike as I have always ridden hard tails. When I first got on this bike after trying out about 10 different models it just felt right and fit me well. I like the shorter reach to the bars and orange always speaks to me. I wanted to get a bike with a 1x11 gearing and a dropper post but with a sub $2000 budget I knew this would be hard to find. The Shift R5 has neither of these but are easily upgraded. The frame has extra cable holders for a dropper post but it doesn't have a hole for the bottom cable. The suspension does everything I need it to do on the rooted and rocky trails that I ride on. I have not tried any downhill runs with this bike but I know there will be limitations with only 120mm of travel. So far for riding it one season I am very happy with this bike. I do plan on buying a new dropper post this week but other than that this bike fits the bill and keep up on the trails with all my buddies on their $3000 Konas.
